Francois Trezin, born in Provence, France, has been working as a professional still-life photographer in Shanghai, China, since 2007.

Since he was young, Francois has held a fascination with the interior workings of machinery and objects. As a child, Francois would routinely break apart old toys to create new ones. His creativity with still-life objects carries over into his photography to this very day.

“The objects talk to me and inspire me,” says Trezin. This has been true since the age of nine, when his father bought Trezin his first camera. Since then, he has worked to craft and create his skill in still-life photography. In his personal life—and to the frustration of those around him—he is tirelessly fixing and arranging objects. He has a sensitive eye, and knows inherently how to fix and coordinate furniture, objects and spaces to create small interior worlds.

Now, Francois shoots regularly for magazines such as China Life Magazine, Elle Decoration, Architectural Digest, The Outlook Magazine, Modern Weekly and Lohas, among several others. His advertising catalogs include Mark Fairwhale, Jack Walk, and HP. Francois recently received First Prize for his portfolio at the Caochangdi PhotoSpring Festival (partnership with Les Rencontres d’Arles). His current personal work, “Drawer Story,” was published in the October issue of China Life Magazine.

Francois’ photography has been exhibited internationally, in France, Japan and China. His work has been featured at exhibitions in Angle Gallery in St Paul-3-Chateaux, Le Lieu Unique in Nantes, Le Luxy in Ivry-sur-Seine, Chaumont-sur-Loire castle, Agra in Japan, AM Art Space in Shanghai, Zendai Museum of Modern Art in Shanghai, and the TS1 Gallery in Beijing’s 798 district.
